This school year is like none other. It's hard...hard to not see your friends every day; hard to explain your questions remotely to your teachers; hard to keep up with all the work when your schedule is anything but normal. Sometimes, it may seem like adults just forget. Have we forgotten that you are teenagers trying to enjoy the best years of your lives? Have we forgotten that you don't just crave, you need social interaction in order to thrive.? Have we forgotten that if you are in your home with school-aged siblings that you may also assume babysitting and tutoring duties? No, I promise you we have not. We talk about our concerns for you incessantly. We plan lessons and then re-plan them trying to accommodate the learning situation. We have you foremost in our minds because you are the reason we have studied and labored and continually hone our skills to provide you with the best possible education. You are the reason we lie awake at night worrying. You are the reason we get up, brave the cold, and await your arrival in TEAMS. You are the reason we go the extra mile and show compassion and patience...because we care. We Care.
It would be easy to become discouraged and defeated. It would be easy to place blame--on your parents, your teachers, the school board, the governor, even yourself. No good comes of that., so give yourself a break. Talk a walk, play a game, watch a movie. Do whatever it takes to begin fresh with a new mindset. Things appear to be looking up for the spring, and we all are ready for a change. Meanwhile, keep a positive outlook; set your sights on the horizon; better days are ahead.
