As graduation is approaching and students are ready to embark on the next stages of their lives, one must decide on where they will end up in the upcoming years. As future plans differ for each student, West Virginia has a lot to offer both college-wise and workforce-wise as well. West Virginia has 44 post-secondary institutions and also offers great job programs as well. A graduate of high school has many opportunities and choices for post-high school plans.
The 44 post-secondary institutions that West Virginia has to offer are all over the state and all offer a variety of different courses. A student can choose a school not only based on educational opportunities but on location as well. From ranging from public universities to private colleges and even community or technical colleges, West Virginia gives many opportunities for many different individuals the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education. Some of West Virginia's post-secondary schools include West Virginia University, Marshall University, Fairmont State University, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Davis and Elkins College, University of Charleston, Wheeling University, Glenville State College, Concord University, and West Liberty University.

Along with the many opportunities post-secondary, many individuals will choose to start right into the workforce. These are jobs that require a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development Test) and possibly training. Many are able to find a stable job fresh out of high school and are able to work up experience for future promotions and or job opportunities.
