Students of the Month Announced

Robert C. Byrd High School announces the Boys and Girls of the Month for the remainder of 2020.


Selected for the month of September are Gavin Kennedy and Birkely Richards.

Gavin Kennedy is the son of Tom and Lea Kennedy of Clarksburg. Both a scholar and an athlete, Gavin excels in the classroom and on the basketball court. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He plans to attend college in the fall. His major is yet undecided.





Birkely Richards is the daughter of Dr. Aimee Richards of Clarksburg. An academician, an athlete, a student leader, and a musician all describe Birkely. She has excelled in the classroom and on the soccer field, the basketball court, and the tennis court. A member of the Student Council and the National Honor Society, she also was a member of the school’s orchestra.


Planning to attend Muskingum University in the fall, Birkely will play soccer and study biology. Her goal is to become a veterinarian.





Selected for October are Blake Meighen and Sophie Brager.


Blake Meighen is the son of Chris and Laurie Meighen of Clarksburg. Throughout high school Blake has been an active member of the Basketball and Soccer teams and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As a member of the Student Council as well as the National Honor Society, he serves as Senior Class Secretary and was named to the National Society of High School Scholars. He is a member of the Nutter Fort Golden Eagles 4-H Club.


A member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Blake plans to attend college to pursue a degree in business.



Sophie Brager is the daughter of Paul and Laurie Brager of Clarksburg. Active throughout high school, Sophie is the current Student Body President. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Eagle Cabinet, the Junior Humane Society, the Tennis Team, and the school orchestra. She has served her school and community as Homecoming Parade Coordinator and as a member of the Young Women’s Progressive Society as well as the Mayor’s Youth Council.


An intern at the Harrison County Historical Society, Sophie plans to attend college to become a physician.




Selected for November are Grant Lowther and Abigail Fazzini.



Grant Lowther is the son of Brady and Maggie Lowther of Quiet Dell. While in high school Grant has participated on the Football and Baseball teams. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the FFA, the Student Council, and the National Honor Society. He was a nominee to Mountaineer Boys’ State, and a member of the youth group at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.


While his major is undecided, Grant plans to attend Glenville State College in the fall play to baseball.




Abigail Fazzini is the daughter of Rebekah and Joseph Fazzini of Clarksburg. While in high school Abby has excelled on the Volleyball court. She also played with the Rage Volleyball Club. Abby plans to attend Alderson-Broaddus University to study nursing.







Chosen for December are Bryson Lucas and Langston Wolfe.

Bryson is the son of Antoine and Christy Lucas of Clarksburg. He is a 4-year member of the football and basketball teams, and he has earned a number of athletic accolades for both sports. He has been named to the 1st Team Big Ten team, the 2ns Team All State for football as well as Big 10 Player of the Year, 1st Team Big 10, and 1st Team All-State for basketball.


Bryson has participated in many community service projects including serving at the Clarksburg Mission and volunteering for community clean-ups. Looking forward to playing sports at the collegiate level, Bryson plans to attend college to study business/economics. His goal is to run his own company.



Langston Wolfe is the daughter of Heather and Todd Wolfe of Clarksburg. Throughout high school, she has been active in the Show Choir, Theatre, the Thespian Troup, and Student Council where she currently serves as Student Body vice-President. A member of the National Honor Society, Langston’s future goal is to become a Veterinary Surgeon.
