Local artist and RCB art teacher Mrs. Crim celebrates Youth Art Month each year in the month of March. A Month devoted to the importance of Youth art and the talent within the Youth artist. At RCB, a wide variety of classes are held giving those an opportunity to expand their skills or simply learn the basics. Art I is offered to those who want to explore the art department. Art II, III and IV is offered for the students who enjoyed Art I and want to expand even more and develop their skills. Sketching and Design is offered and so is AP art for the advanced students who want to achieve great heights in the art department and exemplify exceptional talent. All courses have talent within and many artist have won various awards in different contest.
Each year at RCB, exhibits are created and set up throughout the school each showing pieces that students have made that signify their talent and help promote the department. Ms. Crim, an exceptional artist herself, promotes the month and even is offering an art scholarship to one deserving student. Crim has blossomed talent within many students and allowed them to thrive. Currently, many pieces students have created are displayed throughout the RCB elevator lobby and the hallway by the theatre that celebrate the month and exhibit the talent that the department as a whole has.
However, RCB isn't the only institution that celebrates this month. The cultural center in Charleston, which holds the state museum, held a statewide contest devoted to the month and allowed students to enter their art and express their voice. The attention that the school and state has brought to this month has opened the eyes to many and showed the importance of Youth in Art. Thousands of schools in the country and world celebrate the month as it is observed by many other countries.
