New To The Faculty Faces

Each new school year brings with it a plethora of changes; this fall has been no exception. As a matter of fact we currently have 6 new teachers!

Meet Mr. Price!

Mr. Price, a new addition to the history department, is the civics and contemporary studies teacher. As his 2nd year of full-time teaching, Mr. Price came from South Harrison Middle School. Mr. Price, a graduate of Robert C Byrd High School and Alderson- Broaddus University, said he always wanted to be a teacher. “My grandma and great grandma were both involved in education, and I just kind of felt a calling to teach.” Along with teaching, Mr. Price loves, “teaching students the things they need to know about how the government works around them and hear them piece together their own political identity.” A word of advice from Mr. Price to the students here is, “Be kind to everyone you meet. Aggressive and indiscriminate kindness always beats negativity in the end. Not only does it help you make others feel better, but it will make you feel better too.” If you haven’t met Mr. Price yet, say hello in the hallway!

Meet Ms. Williams!

Ms. Williams, new to both us and the world of teaching is RCB's Chemistry and Earth and Space Science Teacher Ms. Williams. A recent graduate of West Virginia University, she loved learning at a young age. She commented, "When I was a young girl, I was collecting old teacher supplies and textbooks that schools would give away. That interest continued throughout my whole life. I started tutoring peers from a young age, and as I got older I took on many tutoring roles for a wide-range of ages." Ms. Williams entered WVU as a stem major and was exposed to the idea of teaching in WVU Teach, a program that allows STEM majors the opportunity to give teaching a try. Through this, she learned that she loved teaching, and the rest is history.

Ms. Williams has been enjoying the year so far and loves teaching here at RCB, "One of the things I love the most is getting to know my students. I love hearing about my students’ interests and hobbies and hearing them share stories about their friends and family. Building relationships is important to me, and I feel like I am at the perfect school to do that." Ms. Williams cautions students that, "These 4 years go by so fast! It wasn't that long ago that I was sitting in your seat. Don't take it for granted!" If you see Ms. Williams in the hallways, say hello!

Ms Hinterer concluded with a word of advice, "The advice that I would want to give the students is to stay active in clubs, sports, or anything like that. You will look back and cherish those memories and friends that you made. You can't get your high school years back so make the most of them!!"

It wasn’t until after graduating that I decided my happiness was more important than my bank account!" Mr. Moore has enjoyed teaching and has enjoyed teaching here these past few months, he quoted, "I love the students! So far, all of the students have been very welcoming and respectful.
