On Friday May 1, 2020, RCB held a "Light Up Night". This night was dedicated to honor all 2020 graduates as well as athletes who did not get to finish their winter or start their spring seasons. At 7:30 p.m, the gate behind the school was opened to drive through. There, coaches, teachers, and staff greeted students with signs, music, and lots of cheering. Students were to mostly stay in their cars in the parking lot while socializing with music. After a while, everyone who had a car did a 20-second-long honk for the seniors. Then, at 8:20 (2020 in military time!) administrators turned on the field lights to "light up the night" for them.
Student Body President Kamryn Weaver stated, " I loved it! I thought it was a really good idea, and it was nice to have that last memory with my friends. It was a memory I needed because I didn't know my last day of high school was my last day. I'm glad we all had the opportunity to have one last hoorah at Byrd before we go to college!" Overall, there was a huge turnout and everyone had a good time!
