Making a Splash

The RCB Swim Team ended their season with a splash at the Region III Championship Meet on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at West Virginia Wesleyan College. All the RCB swimmers swam well and had some best times in their events, with some swimmers placing in the top 3 automatically qualifying for the 2020 State Swim Meet. The automatic State qualifiers include Freshman Jacob Howe placing 3rd in the 50 freestyle, Sophomore Annalise Gentilozzi placing 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 3rd in the 500 freestyle, Junior Patrick Fubio placing 3rd in the 200 freestyle and 2nd in the 100 backstroke, and Senior Zac Basler placing 2nd in the 200 freestyle and 2nd in the 500 freestyle. Other automatic State qualifiers include both the boys 200 and 400 freestyle relays of Jacob Howe, Patrick Fubio, Zac Basler, and Matthew Howe, placing 2nd in both relays.

Other State qualifiers include Freshman Jacob Howe in the 100 freestyle, and Senior Matthew Howe in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 backstroke. Senior Zac Basler made the All Region Team with his two 2nd place finishes in both of his individuals. These 5 swimmers will represent RCB at the WV State Swim Meet on Thursday, February 20 and Friday, February 21, 2020 at Mylan Park Aquatic Center in Morgantown. Overall, the RCB Swim Team had a great regional meet, with the boys’ team finishing 2nd overall.
