Drive Safely!

Annually, AAA ponsors a high school Safe Driving Competition at RCB. The contest involves all the

high schools in Harrison County, and also includes high schools outside the county such as Doddridge County High School, Grafton High School, Philip Barbour High School, and East Fairmont High School.

The competition consists of two parts, a written/perception assessment and a driving examination. An obstacle course is set up by AAA where students perform different driving maneuvers such as backing into a parking space, driving through a diminishing lane, and maneuvering the vehicle in and out of traffic cones. The written part of the examination deals with the roadway laws, signs and their meanings, and road recognition. Scores from both parts are awarded and the students with the highest scores place first-third. Representing the Eagles, Senior Eli Williams placed 3rd overall. He received a trophy and $150 for his efforts.
