RCB Swimmers excelled in the Region III Championship held at West Virginia Wesleyan College. The Boys' Team placed 2nd in the Region as Junior Zac Basler earned first-place finishes in both the 200-free and the 500-free. Zac will be competing in the West Virginia State Swim Meet in Morgantown next week. Also competing in the State meet for the Boys' Team will be Senior Gabriel Howe in the 200 Individual Medley, Junior Matthew Howe in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley, and Sophomore Patrick Fubio in the 500 Free. The Boys’ Relay Team of Zac, Patrick, Gabe and Matt will also compete in the 200 and 400 Free relays.
The Girls’ Team finished fourth in the region. Representing the Girls’ Team at the WV State Meet, Freshman Annalise Gentilozzi will compete in the 100 and 200 free events, as well as Junior Alexis Brannon in the 100 Breaststroke. The Girls’ Relay Team of Junior Gabriella Iquinto-Jones, Alexis, Junior Riley Cutlip and Annalise will also compete in the 400 free relay.
The West Virginia State Swim Meet took place at West Virginia University Natatorium in Morgantown. As a result of the preliminary sessions, Zac Basler swam in the Consolation finals for his 8th place finish in the 200 free & 10th place finish in the 500 free. Matthew Howe qualififed to swim in the Consolation final for his 11th place finish in the 100 back. Annalise Gentilozzi swam in the Consolation final for her 9th place finish in the 200 free. The Girls 400 free relay team of Gabriella Iquinto-Jones, Alexis Brannon, Riley Cutlip and Annalise also swam in the Consolation final for their 12th place finish.
Earning accolades were Matt Howe for finishing 18th in the 200 IM, Gabriel Howe for finishing 19th in the 200 IM, Patrick Fubio for finishing 18th in the 500 free, Annalise Gentilozzi for finishing 15th in the 100 free, Alexis Brannon for finishing 18th in the 100 breaststroke, and the Boys relay team of Zac, Patrick, Gabriel & Matthew for finishing 15th in the 200 & 400 free relays.
