Working for a Better Clarksburg

Members of SADD and Adviser Ms. Skubis attended a conference at Camp Dawson entitled, "It's Who We Are". The group met to discuss problems in their home communities and schools. Students from around the state participated in the event. Pictured above are Jocelynn Cottrill, Emma Anderson, Ms. Skubis, Ezra Johnson, Katelynn Cottrill, Destiny Cochran, and Ashleigh Burnett.

The RCB SADD Club was invited to attend the annual WVSADD Conference, which is the biggest SADD conference on the national level. SADD divisions from all over the state were invited to attend this prestigious conference. SADD, ran by Ms. Rachel Skubis, were excited to attend this event and represent not only RCB, but also Harrison County.

The conference had many great speakers. One of them being Devine Carama from Kentucky, also known as “King"- tucky, a rapper. Not only did he give amazing speeches about bringing people up instead of bringing them down he also performed some uplifting rap songs.

“This was a great opportunity for the people of SADD, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I was able to learn new ways to help my community and meet new people. Even though I'll be graduated next year, I'm hoping to be able to return.” SADD member, senior, Ashleigh Burnett states about this amazing opportunity.

Along with the new opportunities, the SADD Club made an Action Plan to try and cut down on vaping/juuling within the school. They even invited the administrators to attend a school meeting to talk about their action plan, which went over with great success.
