Lettuce-Do-Lunch is a business operated by RCB Students that provides catered lunches to teachers two days a week. West Virginia Department of Education requires all Career and Technical Education programs to offer their students a Simulated Workplace experience. [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]
Mr. Gibson presented the concept of a collaborative Simulated Workplace that would include students from multiple CTE programs working together. The Business CTE Programs: hire and train employees, design ID badges and uniforms, process payroll, prepare schedules, analyze and compile financial documents (profit/loss statements, accounts receivable, purchase orders, cash summary reports, billing invoices, receipts, etc.). Eventually our Agriculture CTE Program will grow and harvest vegetables that our Foods and Nutrition students will use when preparing the meals.
Students created a monthly menu and deliver weekly order sheets to the staff. RCB employees select which day(s) they choose to partake and each meal costs $6. Employees are able to pay by Cash, Check, or they can Charge to their account. Lettuce-Do-Lunch has averaged between 20-25 meals each day. Last week was our Grand Opening and we are enjoying the experience. Mrs. Cook commented, "Today was my first time participating, and the food was fabulous!"
