Robert C. Byrd High School announces its Boys and Girls of the Month for March and April.
March Boy of the Month is Matthew Michener Wilson Strange, the son of Jeff and Amy Strange of Clarksburg. Throughout high school, Matthew has been actively involved in the Student Council, the Marching, concert, and jazz bands, and the Fellowship of Cristian Athletes. Additionally, he was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior.
Belonging to Boy Scouts of America Troop 40, Matthew has developed skills outside academia, and excelled there as well, as he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, the honor society of the Boy Scout organization. Athletically, he has been a member of the Freshman Basketball team, and was varsity basketball manager; most recently he has participated on the Cross-Country team and is active on the Harrison County Bruins Lacrosse Team, where he received honorable mention All-State in sophomore and second team All-State in his junior year.
A well-rounded student, Matthew takes a number of Advanced Placement and college-level courses, maintaining a cumulative 4.127 ranking him first in the senior class. Matthew attends First Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg. He plans to attend the University of Richmond in the fall, having received the prestigious Presidential Scholarship, to study biology and pre-medicine.
Girl of the Month for March is Kylie Elizabeth Pinion, the daughter of Shane Pinion and Rebecca Henderson of Clarksburg.
While in high school, Kylie has been an active member of the National Honor Society, Eagle Cabinet, FFA, and the Junior Humane Society. As an athlete, she ran for both the track and cross-country teams.
A dedicated leader, Kylie was instrumental in organizing and participating in the Brown Paper Bag movement for the less fortunate as well as the Humane Society carnival. Her responsibility also led her to be the Greenhouse Manager as.
Kylie plans to attend WVU in the fall. Her passion is Geology, and she aspires to earning a PhD in Geological Studies.
