STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Robert C Byrd high school recently announced its Boys and Girls of the Month for November and December.

Boy of the Month for November is Jacob Andrew Scotchie, the son of Brenda and John Scotchie of Bristol. Throughout high school Jacob has been an active member of the Basketball, Football, and Cross Country teams. He has participated in both the Student Council and Key Club. Jacob plans to attend WVU in the fall to study business and finance.

Girl of the month for November is Lilly Anne McCracken, the daughter of James and Amy McCracken of Bridgeport. Throughout high school Lilly has been an active member of the Student Council where she has served her class as secretary for three years. She has represented RCB for four consecutive years at the West Virginia Association of Student Council’s camp held at Jacksons Mill and is a three-year member of the Eagle Cabinet, historian of the National Honor Society, and a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Lilly is an Eagle Mentor, a member of the Key Club, and a senior princess on the Homecoming Court. She has maintained a perfect GPA throughout high school; she was also selected to represent the Clarksburg League for Service at Rhododendron Girls’ State held at Wheeling Jesuit University

An accomplished dancer and teacher’s assistant at Altered Productions Institute for the Creative Arts, Lilly has studied dance for 12 years. A member of the Christian Club and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, she plans to attend WVU in the fall to major in nursing and minor in dance.

Boy of the Month for December is Cory Thomas Shingleton, the son of William Shingleton and Donna Lasure. Throughout high school Cory has been an active member of the JROTC where he has served as Battalion Commander and Commander of the Raider Challenge Team and as a member of the Color Guard. He is a member of the National Honor Society as well as both the Track and Field and Cross Country teams. Cory plans to attend WVU in the fall to major in biology and maintain participation in the Army ROTC.

Girl of the Month for December is Stephanie Adkison-Sacra, the daughter of Kevin and Susan White and Rhonda Day of Stealey. Throughout high school Stephanie has been an active member of the JROTC, the Rifle Team, and the Color Guard; she also attended the USAFA summer seminar. A manager of the Soccer Team as a sophomore and current president of the National Honor Society, Stephanie has received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy where she plans to focus her studies on biochemistry.
