Everyday is a great day to be a Flying Eagle, but November 4th was especially memorable as several Byrd sports programs excelled in statewide competitions.

Both the boys' and girl's soccer teams made it to the state tournaments; both teams advanced onto the championship game. With great determination, the girls brought home their first state title. This was also the first non-cheerleading state title in school history.

The volleyball team also earned a spot at the state tournament. They beat Nicholas County to advance and placed second in the region.

The cheerleading squad also won regionals with the highest score in the state. They will be competing on the state level December 9 in Charleston.

Finally, the football team earned a spot in playoffs on Saturday, the 11th, at Mingo Central. The boys' season ended after that tough playoff game.

Congratulations to all of our athletes!
