It’s halfway through the season for both Boys’ and Girls’ soccer teams, and all anyone is talking about is the defense. The boys have had a great start to their season, holding an 8-1-1 and have only conceded six goals this entire season. That’s less than one goal per game, much due to sophomore keeper Ryan Collett’s performance in goal along with help from the back line. Collett stated, “This season we’re in a new formation so it took some readjusting to get used to, but we’re doing well and I think we have a good chance of going to states.” With the defense doing so well it’s allowed for the forwards and midfielders to focus on putting the ball in the back of the net. The offense has scored a total of 62 goals so far this season, and will be hoping to keep up their good form when they play Liberty on September 29th.

Along with the boys’ team, the RCB Girls’ soccer team is also having a good defensive start to their season. With a 7-2-1 record the defense has only conceded 8 goals over their ten game season. Like the boys, the girls are allowing less than one goal per game. Senior keeper, Jasmine Matheny, has also had an impressive start to her season. Matheny stated, “I’m very excited about this season so far, our defense is doing very well so far. I enjoy being a part of the RCB Lady Eagles Soccer Team.” The Lady Eagles also play Liberty on the September 29th and are hoping to add another win to their total.
