Interact holds phone drive

Throughout the year, many clubs hold community service projects within the school. Interact is currently holding one to collect old cell phones. This is initiative is to help Hope Incorporated. Hope Incorporated is a safe house for domestic violence victims. They take the old phones and reprogram them for dialing 911 in case of another emergency. “I think it is a really good project to help out our community in a different way than what we usually would,” sophomore, Hannah Davis. You can give any cell phones to a member of Interact or bring them to Ms. Boggs room.

Hope Inc. has four outreach offices in West Virginia including ones in Weston, Glenville, West Union, and Clarksburg. “Hope Incorporated is a great resource for people in all sorts of situations to contact and get help from,” junior, Mica Giaquinto. As well as reprogram old cell phones and provide a safe place to go to Hope Inc. provides many other services. They provide transportation, relocation services, child care, and support groups as well. You can schedule group or private counseling sessions through or with them to help alleviate problems before they arise. Hope Incorporated has many referral resources, so even if you prefer not to directly work with them they can help you find a suitable match for your requested service.

Hope Inc. also travels around the community educating on domestic and sexual abuse and harassment. They welcome volunteers with open arms to help run facilities, work reception, or help with trivial tasks that might arise. There is also a 24 hour crisis hotline available to anyone that needs to talk or report something.
