ATTENTION FRESHMEN: Critical Steps to Surviving High School

Abby It is evident that many of us get to high school and become utterly lost or pointed in the wrong direction. High school is like a wave, and when you learn to surf it, I can guarantee that you will start to enjoy and succeed at it. These steps come from your very own upperclassmen at Robert C. Byrd, and will serve as a guide to surviving your four years of high school.

1. Be nice to your teachers. It helps when the person in charge of your grade genuinely wants you to succeed. (Senior Sadie)

2. Having a positive attitude in high school will lead to a positive outcome. (Senior Dravin)

3. Always do your work honestly. You will learn so much more when putting forth effort. (Senior Anna)

4. Know where you stand as an underclassman, but never let it stop you from getting more involved in clubs, activities, and sports. (Senior Camden)

5. Get along with everyone. It's easier to get through high school without enemies. (Senior Justin)

6. Do not procrastinate, especially when taking upper level classes. Also, try new things. It makes high school fun. (Senior T.R.)

7. Live for today, because there might not be a tomorrow. (Senior Joe)

8. The best way to get through high school is by being polite to your teachers. (Senior David)

9. You will excel as a student if you follow the rules, do your homework, and stay on the teachers' good sides. And don't be afraid to ask for help. (Senior Levi)

10. Put forth your best effort. and never bring yourself down. It will bring you success in the long run. (Senior Logan)
