Elisa & Justin With Homecoming around the corner, everyone is scrambling to get a date. Most people expected something over the top, but a lack of creativity plagued a lot of minds. However, a select few were up to the challenge of creating a memorable homecoming proposal.
Senior Justin planned to ask Junior Elisa after she returned from danceline practice. Justin wrote “HOMECOMING?” on her driveway: sadly, it rained an hour later. Elisa still saw it and said yes! “I thought it was so funny that the rain washed the chalk away, but it was really sweet and thoughtful,” said Elisa.
Senior Corey asked an out-of-school date: Christina from Notre Dame High School. Corey put a trail of Hershey kisses outside of her house. She followed the trail all the way Corey holding a poster board that said, “Now that I’ve kissed the ground you walk on, will you go to homecoming with me?”
Are guys really that creative and original? Or do they get their ideas from other sources? Senior Logan admitted that he did come up with his own idea. He made paper roses into a shape of a heart, wrote a note, and placed it in the middle of the heart. When Junior Haley walked outside, he was standing there. “I thought of the idea myself and made everything by myself too,” said Logan. Other guys go for pre-fabricated ideas, even letting their female friends create the elements. We have to cut them slack though: if they didn't use their "resources" (aka Google), the asking probably wouldn't get done.
Subtlety is always a good way to go about the homecoming proposal. Junior Dante and Junior Miranda were discussing the topic of homecoming and just agreed to go together. “Miranda and I are really good friends so we just decided to go together to make it easier,” said Dante.
Guys don’t always have to make the first move, girls can take charge. Sophomore Emily asked her boyfriend, of Bridgeport High School. Emily made cupcakes and decorated his room with a poster and balloons. “Since we have been together for a long time it wasn’t weird, and of course he said yes!” Emily.
Now for those who are lacking creativity, we have ideas for you!
Key “Homecoming?” into the side of their car.
Write “Homecoming?” on a brick and throw it through their window. No beating around the bush here!
If you play a sport, write “Homecoming?” on the ball and kick/throw it at them during your game. Make sure they aren't paying attention: it'll make the surprise that much better!
Get Officer Steven to put a boot on their car and say you won’t go take it off until they agree to go to the dance with you.
Cut letters out of a magazine, glue them down, and anonymously mail it to them, ransom note-style.
Jump out of their locker at the end of the day and scream, “HOMECOMING?” (Weight-loss and/or bone restructuring may be required.)
